‘Clean hands’ campaign planned

Press release

Remember to clean your hands!
Tomorrow (May 5) is “National STOP! Clean Your Hands Day.”
As a participant in the campaign, Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. wishes to remind all employees and visitors of the importance of cleaning their hands in reducing health care-associated infections.
Jodi Jewell, Occupational Health/Infection Control Nurse, stresses the importance of cleaning your hands.
“Simple hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of germs,” she noted.
“Riverside has installed alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations throughout our facilities,” she added.
“They are located at all entrances, in hallways, and outside patient rooms.”
“Riverside will be involving patients and families in supporting good hand hygiene practices,” echoed Anne Marie Vanderaa, manager, In-patient Units, and director of nursing education.
“We will be encouraging patients to ask staff if they have washed their hands before providing care,” she noted.
Whether you are a patient, family member, or visitor, your role in supporting proper hand hygiene is important.
Please use the hand-sanitizing stations upon entering and before leaving our facilities.
